MISSION

To maintain the Camaraderie and preserve the memory of those who served; perpetuating the Screaming Eagle heritage and traditions for future generations; while supporting our veterans and the current Eagles as the Division continues its ongoing Rendezvous with Destiny.

Monthly SITREP for November 2011 to update the efforts of the National Headquarters and what we have accomplished over the last month.

1. The month of October was spent closing out our prior fiscal year which was another good year for the Association thanks to Mary, Mike and Tonia.
Now we are preparing for our yearly audit from our Accounting firm who will be available after the Thanksgiving Holiday.

2. In connection with the Audit to protect the Association the Finance Committee performed a mini audit on the SESF account and everything was in order at this time with minor recommendation to improve tracking of funds distributed to the Army Medical Facilities and Wounded Warriors.

3. SESF guidelines are being updated and a meeting will be held on 22 November in order to finalize proposed guidelines to present to BOG at Snowbird.

4. As you all seen in the fall magazine the store was listed which assisted with starting off the year on a good foot. Mike continues to do a great job managing the store.  If anyone has ideas and would like to see different items please pass on your suggestions and we will look into seeing what we can do.

5. The scholarship brochure mailing has generated about $8,304 for the Chappie Hall and $3,000 for Viste. Mary along with the committee did an outstanding job.

6. As of today the SESF brochure mailing and fund raising efforts has generated over $15,000 with only about 3 weeks since mailing on 1 Nov.
Thanks to all who donated thus far.  The Gordon Food Service (GFS) SESF fund was a great success as they donated $4,326 and they want to continue their
efforts next year in hopes to donate even more.   I plan on attending their
store manager meeting in the Spring with all the store managers who participated to thank them personally.

7. Membership numbers are at 7,885 back up from the drop last report.
Working in a plan to throw a membership drive Bash in March to increase active duty numbers here at Fort Campbell.  But again the goal will never be reached with just the efforts for AD members so please keep up the good work out there. The letter mailed to all chapters reminding them about the need for your roster according to our Constitution and by-laws will hopefully increase our total veteran numbers at National also.  We are also now linked to the local university to gain members from the ROTC and learned there are also many who are prior enlisted Soldiers who wear Old Abe on their right sleeve, awesome.  We will also be attending their 40th Anniversary celebration.

8. Our Corporate Sponsor efforts are paying off so far this year as we have reached the total gained last year in just this first month, $2,300.  The list of who has expired because there was no contact has many sponsors from the Chapter's local areas and hope the attached list will help you reach out to see if they are willing to again show their support.  Again I request your support in reaching out in you chapter areas for corporate sponsors.
If each chapter was to just get one this year we will continue be able to do great things and even more to show our support to Soldiers and their families.

9. We are linked into Facebook and Mary continues to update the site to get the message to all those who have "liked" us.  I take pictures at the New Soldier brief and send them to here to add so the Soldiers can see themselves signing up.  Thanks to James Gaffney our new PAO for assisting us in modern methods of social networking. The new and improved Website will be online by 1 January as Mary continues to work with the provider.

10. President Dick Pack and his lovely wife Carol visited Fort Campbell and the National Headquarters and attended a building dedication along with many other events during his trip.  The COL Robert Jones Training Support Center is a fitting dedication to a true America hero. Dick also had a office call with the Division CSM and MG McConville who continue to show their support for our Association.  Met with A&A WPN engraving representative who is working a project to have a M4 engraved for raffle and sale at the 67th Reunion. More to follow but could be very prosperous to the Association.

11. Efforts to show are support here on Fort Campbell and in the community continue as I've been attending along with AJ, Dino and many of the WK&T members at events including but not limited to, Retirement ceremonies, Eagle Remembrance ceremonies, Sapper Stakes award ceremony, Welcome Home ceremonies (My cousin returned with the 326 EN from Iraq, )Military Affairs meeting on both sides of the line, The Wounded Warrior Battalion Barracks complex ribbon cutting, The MWR appreciation dinner and award ceremony(The association was thanked for our support to the run for the fallen and our continued support), Career day at  the local college to brief the future of our Nation on what we do.  A huge success at the Retiree appreciation day here on Fort Campbell gained veteran members to our great Association. Also following the WTB ribbon cutting members of the WK&T chapter met with Wounded Warriors to show their appreciation and support.

12. Another coin ceremony with the 1 BCT and 426 BSB showed our appreciation to all our Active Duty members and also added new members to our roles.

13. Veterans Day celebrations here in the local area showed how supportive this community truly is. We attended a breakfast where MG McConville spoke and thanked all Veterans.  WK&T members joined me in the events to thank Veterans, "Dutch" Mann a WWII veteran was in attendance also and that was truly inspiring and made the day even more special.

14. Thanks to the efforts of so many, 5 Soldiers and their families from Fort Campbell traveled to Florida to be honored and shown how supportive the Avatar developers are towards the military.  The families had the opportunity to truly enjoy their time away while being treated to a great time at Disney and other enjoyable events during the Veterans day weekend.
Thanks Larry for being part of this successful endeavor.

15. The 506th had a weeklong celebration along with many ceremonies to honor past and present Currahees.  I attended as many of these as possible and watched as many of our Veteran members deservingly received their DMORs. I also gave a brief to all the Company CDRs of the 506th, at Pratt Museum of the  on all that the Association does and why it is important to be a member.

16. Had a reunion meeting with the Division and working a great plan to ensure the 67th reunion in conjunction with the 70th Birthday is a huge success.  Attached is the tentative schedule. The Bus transportation plan is being worked with the Division to make sure everyone can get to all the wonderful events the Division has planned.  The coin for the reunion has been approved and gone out for bid. Also working the Wine label for memorial dinner.

17. The Winter Screaming Eagle has gone to the designer for final proof and will back to us in the next couple weeks. Thanks all for your valuable input.

18. I currently hold a 21 day old Blue retiree ID card.  I shaved just for the photo thanks to AJ giving me a hard time about looking professional.

19. On December 16th I will walk across the stage and receive my diploma only 26 years for a 4 year degree. I asked if they had a persistent cord to wear with my Honors and Military cords.

20. Our support to Wreaths across America provided $450 which assisted with the efforts of over $16,000 towards providing enough wreaths so every grave in the Western Kentucky Veterans cemetery will have a wreath.  Additionally still looking to have as many volunteers to at the wreath laying on 10 December at 1100hrs the same time wreaths are being laid at Arlington.  Also on 10 December will be attending the WK&T memorial dinner where BG Colt the ADCS will be the guest speaker.

21. There is a very special event on 22 Nov to honor all medics past and present.  Angels on the Battlefield will honor all medics and Gary Sinese
will be the guest speaker.   Looking forward to a wonderful time.

22. In the next two weeks Mary the wonderful will be sending out a request for your input to the Snowbird BOG books.

23. Hope you all have a Wonderful Thanksgiving.
